Carolynn is the Founder and Clinical Director of Lavender Counselling. She is not currently accepting new individual clients and does not maintain a waitlist. She is currently accepting new participants for group therapy and is available to counsellors seeking support through the consent agreement process.
Carolynn began her career in business, spending nine years with a local grocery chain before completing a Bachelor of Education at UBC and teaching high school English for eleven years. It was during those years in the classroom that she found herself spending more time at the school counsellor’s office than in grammar lessons, and that recognition sent her back to university. She graduated with an MA in Counselling Psychology from UBC in 2013.
During her graduate studies, Carolynn worked in the personal research lab of the former President of Anxiety Canada and conducted her own novel research on social anxiety in adolescents. She went on to counsel students in District Social Development Programs, working alongside youth with intensive behavioural needs and severe mental health challenges.
Carolynn has served on the Board of the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC) as VP and Chair for Region 5, and as the Fraser Health Representative. She holds the designation of Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) with BCACC and CCS with CCPA, and has provided supervision and consultation to students and professionals for close to ten years.
She is part of the Program Development and Clinical Teams for Wounded Warriors Canada, where she has co-developed the SRP (Spouses’ Resiliency Program) and the SSP (Surviving Families’ Program). She delivers group therapy programs including COPE, TRP 1 and 2, SRP, and SFP as part of that clinical team.
Carolynn works with a broad range of presenting concerns including PTSD, trauma, anxiety, depression, traumatic grief, postpartum transition, self-harm, suicidal ideation, self-esteem, emotion regulation, and life transitions.
