Clinical Support for Counsellors

Supervision, Consultation & Training

Many people are confused about the difference between Clinical Consultation and Clinical Supervision. At Lavender Counselling, we provide both. The BCACC definitions below clarify the distinction:

Clinical Consultation

A voluntary experience similar to supervision, but without an evaluative component. It is for practicing clinicians seeking advanced clinical knowledge or additional experience to support their ongoing work.

Clinical Supervision

A planned, goal-directed activity at regular intervals between a trained Clinical Supervisor and a supervisee. The supervisor takes on some responsibility for client care and supervisee safety.

We also provide Supervision of Supervision, where a trained Supervisor of Supervision supports a supervisor in gaining or maintaining the skills required to supervise other clinicians.

This page is a resource for counsellors, whether fully registered or in the process of completing a Master’s Degree in a psychotherapeutic discipline. We encourage you to discuss your hopes for professional support during your complimentary conversation so you and the Supervisor can ensure you are moving in the same direction.

The following offerings have been designed to ensure you feel well supported and equipped to work in the profession with the highest standards of care and ethical practice.

Workshops & Group Training
Live online workshops and therapeutic groups for counsellors at every stage of their career. Each offering is designed around what actually comes up in practice: the questions and situations that practicums and ethics courses don’t always prepare you for.
Clinical Note Taking

Note taking is often overlooked in practicums, and clinicians trained by different organizations can receive conflicting direction. This workshop gives you a consistent theoretical framework to guide your notes. Live online.
