Workshops for Schools, Healthcare Teams & Organizations
Speaking & Workshops
Most workplace wellness talks go something like this: someone reads slides, everyone checks their phone, and the whole thing is forgotten by lunch. We do things differently.
Lavender Counselling brings over a decade of clinical experience into rooms where people actually want to pay attention. Our workshops are built around real conversation and hands-on activities, not lectures. Whether you’re a school trying to help staff understand self-harm, or a clinic wanting to become more trauma-informed, we design sessions that leave people with something they can actually use.
Serving schools, non-profits, healthcare organizations, and workplaces across the Lower Mainland since 2012.
Carolynn founded Lavender Counselling in 2012 and has spent the years since building a practice known for relational, person-centered care. She’s a certified group psychotherapist, an approved clinical supervisor, and part of the program development and clinical team with Wounded Warriors Canada, where she co-developed group therapy programs for military families, veterans, and first responders living with PTSD.
Before becoming a counsellor, Carolynn spent 11 years as a high school English teacher. That background shows up in how she facilitates. She knows how to read a room, hold attention, and make complex clinical concepts land for non-clinical audiences.
Carolynn occasionally brings in other Lavender clinicians as co-facilitators when a topic calls for it.
Each workshop can be adapted for your audience: frontline staff, teachers, healthcare providers, or community volunteers. Sessions run anywhere from one hour to a full day, depending on what your group needs.
Coping with Cutting: A Caregiver’s Guide
The workshop parents and school staff ask for most. We walk caregivers through what’s actually behind self-harm in children and teens. Not the panic-driven version, but a grounded understanding of what the behaviour is communicating and how to respond in ways that help.
Learn more about upcoming sessions →Trauma Informed Care
What does it actually mean to be trauma-informed, beyond the buzzword? Your team gets a working understanding of how trauma shows up in the people they serve, and practical ways to create environments that feel safer. Adaptable for healthcare, schools, non-profits, and frontline organizations.
Inquire →Trauma & Complex Trauma: A Relational Approach
A deeper dive for teams who work directly with people carrying significant trauma histories. How complex trauma differs from single-incident events, why some common approaches can inadvertently cause harm, and what relational support actually looks like in practice.
Inquire →Compassion Fatigue: An Experiential Approach
Not a lecture about burnout. This is an experiential session where participants get to actually feel what’s happening in their own systems when they’re depleted. For anyone in a caregiving or helping role: teachers, healthcare workers, counsellors, social workers, first responders.
Inquire →Understanding Anxiety
Anxiety is one of those things everyone thinks they understand until they try to help someone through it. We break down what anxiety actually is, how it functions, and why the well-meaning advice people usually give often makes things worse. Especially popular with school staff.
Inquire →Wellbeing in the Workplace
Not your standard corporate wellness talk. We focus on what actually supports people at work: understanding your own stress responses, recognizing when colleagues are struggling, and building team cultures that don’t treat mental health as a checkbox exercise.
Inquire →Understanding Your Critical Voice
Most people have a relentless inner critic and have never been taught to notice it, let alone work with it. Participants identify the patterns of their critical voice, understand where it comes from, and start building a different relationship with it. This tends to be one of those sessions where people get unexpectedly honest.
Inquire →When People Push Your Buttons
For anyone who works with the public: customers, clients, students, patients. We explore why certain interactions trigger outsized reactions, what’s actually happening beneath the frustration, and how to respond from a more grounded place instead of just white-knuckling through difficult encounters.
Inquire →Custom Workshops
The topics above are our most requested, but they’re not the only things we do. If your organization has a specific need (supporting staff through a critical incident, helping a leadership team understand mental health in their workforce, or something we haven’t thought of yet) we’re happy to build something from scratch. Reach out and tell us what your team is dealing with.

Our sessions are built around experiential activities and real conversation. We want people engaged, not just present.
Clinical depth, no jargon.
Carolynn and the Lavender team work with these issues every day in their counselling practice. The content comes from real clinical experience, not a textbook summary.
Tailored to your room.
Same topic, different audience, different delivery. A session on compassion fatigue for teachers looks different than one for paramedics. We adjust the language, examples, and activities to match who’s actually sitting there.
Deep community roots.
Lavender Counselling has been part of the Langley and Lower Mainland community since 2012. You’re working with a practice that’s here for the long haul, not a speaker-for-hire.
We’ve delivered workshops to schools, school counsellors, teachers, non-profit organizations, and healthcare professionals across the Lower Mainland. Our sessions work well for:
We can come to you, or host you here.
We deliver workshops on-site at your location, but we also have a dedicated workshop and group space at #211 – 20238 Fraser Hwy in Langley. If your team doesn’t have a training room, or you’d rather get your group out of the office for the day, our space is set up and ready to go.
